Drona Sagar Lake

Drona Sagar is related with the Guru Dronacharya, the guru of Kauravas and Pandavas of Mahabharata. Dronasagar is one of the famous temple of Kashipur where many people come daily for worship. According to the Skand Puran, in Drona Sagar, water remains always and sacred as the Ganga. It was considered a very sacred place after Gangotri, Yamunotri, Kedarnath and Badrinath. It is said that Gautam Buddha, Guru Nanak Dev, Tulsidas, Guru Gorakhnath and Dayanand Sarswati had spent some time at Drona Sagar for spreading knowledge. Drona sagar lake is on the name on the teacher of Pandavas Guru Dronacharya, It is said that this lake is created by Pandavas for thier Guru Dronacharya as a Guru Dakshina (fee). The Water of the Drona Sagar Lake is considered to be as holy water like Ganga and it is said according to the Skandpuran.

This beautiful lake is situated at a distance of 2 kms from Kashipur bus stand on the Kashipur-Kashipur route and is an ideal for camping and picknicking spot. There are many hotels and tourist rest house and many private hotels are also available for visitors. Chaiti Temple, Atariya Temple and Nanak Dham are the nearby attractions for the tourist.
